BYD K9 ELECTRIC BUS KICKS OFF ELECTRIFIED TRANSPORTATION IN THAILAND On January 8, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha boarded the first BYD K9 pure-electric bus assembled in Thailand. After thoroughly inspecting the bus, Mr. Prayut Chan-o-cha stated that the BYD K9 fully embodies the performance and excellence required for quality public transportation and extolled the fact that the vehicle was assembled in Thailand. He added that electrified transportation is an inescapable global trend and that Thailand won’t miss out on it, thus announcing a first batch of 200 electric buses tender within three months.

300 BYD 8-METER ELECTRIC BUSES START OPERATING IN SHANWEI The Chinese city of Shanwei, in Guangdong Province is gradually adding 300 units of the BYD K7 – the 8m pure electric bus to its public transportation fleet. The Shanwei City Administration held a ceremony to celebrate the initiative and welcome the green buses. Shanwei has been a keen promoter of green public transportation, and by introducing the BYD K7, the city takes a big step towards sustainable public transportation.

INDIAN GOVERNMENT SANCTIONS RS 35 CRORE FOR PURCHASING VOLVO ELECTRIC BUSES TO HIMACHAL

Recent trials of Volvo electric-buses have been successfully conducted in Shimla, Nalagarh and Solan, leading to the adding of 15 more Volvo electric buses to the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) fleet. The central government has sanctioned Rs 35 crore to the Himachal Pradesh government for purchasing 25 environment friendly electric-buses in order to check pollution level in the state.
