THE FOURTH ELECTRIC ORDER FOR VDL BUS & COACH FROM MÜNSTER
Stadtwerke Münster (Germany) has placed a follow-up order for electric VDL Citeas with VDL Bus & Coach. This order by Stadtwerke Münster is the fourth order in a row for electric buses and consists of four VDL Citeas SLFA-180 Electric. The vehicles will be put in service on line 11 in Münster in the first half of 2020 and will replace some of the diesel buses currently used on this line.
With the electric Citeas currently in operation in a day-to-day experience Münster has driven over 550,000 electric kilometres. It convinced thee public transport operator to place a new order for electric buses at VDL Bus & Coach. It is the fourth order from Münster for VDL.
After the delivery of 3 lightweight Citea LLE in 2013, Stadtwerke Münster placed its first order for electric Citea for the city of Münster in 2015. This order for 5 Citea SLF-120 Electric was, together with 8 VDL Citea SLFA-181 Electric for Cologne, the first order for electric VDL buses in Germany. For VDL Bus & Coach this was also one of the first deliveries of electric buses in Europe.
In 2017 VDL Bus & Coach another 5 VDL Citea SLF-120 Electric were ordered followed by an order for 2 VDL Citea SLF-120 Electric. And now there is a fourth order for 4 VDL Citea SLFA-180 Electric, they will be put into service in the first half of 2020. The vehicles are equipped with a high capacity 288 kWh battery pack. All together Münster will have by then 16 electric VDL buses in operation.
